DO I HAVE TO HAVE RIDING EXPERIENCE?

No prior experience is required. All of our trail horses are well trained and know their jobs. Each rider is given a lesson on how to keep control and lead their horse before the ride is led out. We have an experienced trail guide leading each ride that is able to address any issues that a rider may experience, as well as a follower to ensure that everyone on the ride is safe and comfortable.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Your comfort is most important. We suggest long comfortable pants, but have many riders who wear shorts, sometimes their thighs are not the happiest if they have not been against a saddle in a long time. Sneakers or boots work best in the stirrups. No open toe shoes or high heeled boots. Crocs and Work boots have a tendency to be too wide for the stirrups so they are not recommended.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD THE DAY OF OUR RIDE?

You can always reschedule your ride if the weather is not ideal for your party.  Be sure to check the weather in Oxford, CT as it may not be the same as yours. We still ride in the rain and snow, but we will contact you to reschedule in cases of thunder, lightning, extreme temperatures.

CAN I BRING THE HORSES TREATS FOR AFTER THE RIDE?

Absolutely! Our horses love apples, carrots, saltines and animal crackers and most importantly being loved on always. We also have a few horses that are not ridden but frequent the barn as well as a couple goats at the farm. They all love attention and treats.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM LATE FOR MY RIDE TIME?

All of our rides leave on the hour.  We ask that you arrive 10 minutes before your ride to park, pick a helmet, use the bathroom if necessary. Trail rides book up and you may not be the only group on your ride.  We can not hold up riders who arrived on time or cause delays for the rest of the days rides. Your ride will be cancelled if you are not on time, so please schedule accordingly.
